DB2 LUW Database Professionals: If you can only get budget to attend ONE class this DECADE, I strongly encourage you to do whatever it takes to get yourself enrolled in my NEW Ed Seminar DB2 for LUW Performance Analysis and Tuning Workshop being given at IDUG in Tampa, Florida, on 10 May 2010.

For this lab, you should bring with you copies of SYSIBMADM Snapshot Catalog Views (detailed instructions and scripts will be provided separately). In this lab, you will receive dozens and dozens and dozens of SQL Snapshot commands (on CDROM) to analyze your database's performance data, you will learn what the numbers and metrics mean, and you will graduate fully equipped to conquer amazing performance tuning miracles for your organization...

Register early, by 26 March 2010, to take advantage of IDUG early registration discounts.

Frankly, as I've spent countless days developing the course materials and related SQL Snapshots (have you noticed I haven't blogged in the last month? ), I am becoming increasingly excited about teaching this class - it should have a $5,000 price tag, or more, but IDUG is giving it away for only $425 ($475 if you only attend the seminar). I am certain you will find a way to save your company 10-100X this amount on the first day you return back to the office. Expect Remarkable Breakthrough Results.

Have I convinced you to sign up yet? Would you like me to call your boss on your behalf? I'd be happy to do so.

Detailed preparation instructions will be provided in a future blog post. Don't worry. I'll give you all the SQL for all of the commands. Getting ready should take less than 30 minutes. The class is based on DB2 9.1 and higher. V8.2 users can still attend, but some of the snapshot commands won't work. The laptop you bring to the class should have DB2 9.1 or higher installed. DB2 Express-C (Free DB2) is sufficient.
