The DB2Night Show™

DB2's GOT TALENT Contest

HOW THE CONTEST WILL WORK

Prospective Contestants should complete the DB2's GOT TALENT Application electronically and deliver it to db2sgottalent "at" dbisoftware.com. The earlier you submit your application, the greater your chances for being selected to participate during the Contestant Search Shows. If your application is accepted, you will be notified of show date and assigned a contestant number. Make sure you are in the studio audience with your headset and microphone ready to go.

Contestant Search Shows will be scheduled on February 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th. Contestants will be given approximately 4 minutes to offer a DB2 "Tip" or "Lesson Learned". A panel of judges will critique each short Contestant presentation and select approximately 2-3 Contestants to advance to the Finals in March. The decisions of the judges are final.

To the extent possible, Tips and Lessons Learned for DB2 LUW will be grouped towards the earlier February dates, and Tips and Lessons Learned for DB2 z/OS will be grouped towards the latter February dates. A roster of topics for each February date will be published in advance on this site and in social forums.

UPDATED MARCH DATES

The contest Finals Shows will be scheduled on March 2nd, 16th, and 30th (March 9th and 23rd are removed). Contestants should be willing, ready, and able to participate in all Finals Shows, until or unless they are dismissed via the voting process.

On March 2nd, ten finalist Contestants will each be given four minutes to present a DB2 "Tip" or "Lesson Learned". Judges will offer critiques and opinions, but advancement to the March 16th Finals show will be determined by popular votes from the DB2 community - anyone who participates in the show Studio Audience (webinar attendees) or who watches the recorded replay may vote.

March 9th: You might receive an email from GoToWebinar reminding you to join a show on this date. Ignore it. We're not having a show. We're sorry. This is a side-effect of using one registration for all of the DB2's GOT TALENT events.

On the March 16th Finals show, all 10 Finalists will present another DB2 "Tip" or "Lesson Learned". Audience voting from March 2nd will be used to determine the bottom four contestants. Of the bottom four, our judges will have the discretion and responsibility for "saving" one of the bottom four. The top six contestants plus the "saved" contestant will advance to March 30th. Our studio audience and replay viewers will vote on the surviving seven contestants.

March 23rd: You might receive an email from GoToWebinar reminding you to join a show on this date. Ignore it. We're not having a show. We're sorry. This is a side-effect of using one registration for all of the DB2's GOT TALENT events.

On the March 30th Finals show, our seven finalists will have SIX minutes to offer a DB2 "Tip" or "Lesson Learned". Our theme will be "Your favorite DB2 Success Story". Voting based on the March 16th show will be used to determine the top three and bottom four contestants. Of the bottom four, our judges will have the discretion and responsibility for "saving" one Contestant. Our studio audience and replay viewers will vote on the surviving four contestants, and these votes will ultimately determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

The DB2's GOT TALENT contest winners will be announced on April 13th, 2011, during a special episode of The DB2Night Show themed "All About IDUG". The March 30th four finalist Contestants must be present to win and accept their prizes or the judges may select alternates. The DB2Night Show, its hosts, sponsors, and its judges reserve the right to make adjustments to the contest format and its rules at their discretion.

Please be aware that the 13th April "All About IDUG" show requires a separate registration.
