Austin, TX – (March 24, 2008) - Database-Brothers, Inc. (DBI) today announced a program that allows customers to name the terms, conditions and price they are willing to pay for database performance and auditing software. For the first time ever a software company is allowing customers to proactively participate in the pricing and terms of licensing software with the introduction of DBI Bid.
The law of economics suggests that prices go up when demand is high, and prices are lower during periods of reduced demand. In kind, with this new pricing model, those who procure software licenses during a period of low demand; e.g. earlier in a calendar quarter or late during a slower quarter, get the best deals on unsold software licenses. Like all organizations, software vendors also experience fluctuation in capacity controls, demand levels, bandwidth, and project schedules. With this new sales model, selling software licenses during levels of lower demand benefits customers with increased savings.
Scott Hayes, President and CEO of DBI remarked, “In these challenging economic times, DBI is aware of price sensitivity and the need for IT organizations to demonstrate the value of their purchases. With the new DBI Bid process, IT organizations can easily achieve positive business results while delivering great value.”
Traditional software sales cycles have remained largely unchanged. An organization tries the software, measures its value, and then requests a quote. The vendor then sends a quote, and some degree of negotiation ensues. Finally, the negotiation of price and terms is successful or fails. This process can be ineffective and cumbersome for organizations looking to save money and expedite procurement and implementation.
DBI’s new model lowers IT costs and increases the speed at which software is procured and ultimately deployed. Equally important are the benefits realized with any DBI software solution – improved business performance including financial savings, better response times, lower hardware and power costs, and improved security and productivity.
Subject to capacity controls and current demand levels, customers can log on to www.SoftwarePricedRight.com and bid to procure licenses for any available unsold software license “seats”. Customers may choose from perpetual or term licenses, payment terms, service levels, and more. The Web site also includes bidding tips designed to help customers receive the deepest discounts.
