Rules & Terms

  • For each unique participant database that fully participates in the contest, DBI will add $25 to the donation pool.
    • A unique database is a production DB2 LUW database owned and operated by a Corporation or other legal business entity (public, private, for profit or non-profit, having 50 or more regular full time employees) with head quarters in the United States, Canada, Central America, South America, New Zealand, Australia, Great Britain (UK), Europe, South Africa, or the Nordic region, which is identified by a specific server host (hostname), DB2 instance, and database name.
    • A participant must be a full time employee or long term (3 months or more) contractor of the organization.
    • An organization may have multiple participants provided that each participant submits performance data for different, distinct, production databases.
    • "Full Participation" means:
      • Attending the Kickoff and Results Webinars
      • Properly submitting DB2 Snapshot data to DBI by the required timeframes
  • DBI reserves the right to deny participation to individuals in unqualified organizations, geographies, or those which DBI finds objectionable.
  • DBI, in its sole discretion and judgment, shall select contest winners using measurement criteria discussed during the Kickoff Webinar.
  • DB2 Snapshot data submitted to DBI contains NO business confidential or sensitive information; it becomes the property of DBI. Organizations and Participants shall be confidential information, and any use of submitted performance data shall not be tied to, or associated with, any specific organization. DBI may discuss aggregated results publicly, and individual cases anonymously. Contest or prize winners agree that DBI may identify the individual participant, the participant's organization name, and database improvement results publicly.
  • FREE DBI licenses earned as prizes are valid for one year and include support and maintenance. After the first year, the licenses can be renewed for maintenance and support only, the fee for which shall be set at 20% of then current list prices.
  • DBI reserves the right to limit the number of participant databases, or adjust the current limit of 500.

Database Tuning

  For each contest participant, DBI will donate $25 to the charity pool

  1% of DBI Q2 2008 new license sales will be donated to the charity pool

  Contest participants will "Vote" for their favorite charities, and the charity pool funds will be distributed to the charities on a pro rata basis according to the participant votes
